Maternity is beautiful! Thanks, A.

Maternity Models Still Needed

I'm looking for a few more maternity models for a complimentary shoot. All they need is to be at about 8 months and want some great memories of themselves at this wonderful point in time!

Tell your friends that may be interested, too.

Drop me a note at russ@wed-pix.com.

See the samples from a recent great shoot with Kelly below.

First Look at the new Studio

Adjoining this post is one with images from my new studio located in North Yarmouth at #3 Walnut Hill Commons. It is a comfortable and very workable space for my portrait work. I look forward to sharing more about this space with you soon.

Maternity Models Needed

We're looking for two or three more maternity models to complete our initial maternity portfolio. If you're going to be about 8 months pregnant between now and May, drop me an email or call. Your sitting and your package will be free in simple exchange for our using your images in our marketing and promotion. Call today!

Studio!

A great new studio space is on the way!! Watch this blog for photos and details. I am really excited about this development! This will be a key element of the growth plans for all elements of "people" photography: high school seniors (at least those who want indoor sets), families, children, babies, and absolutely maternity, a market that assistant Angi and I are very excited about entering. See the separate blog about maternity models we are presently seeking with special incentives.

I should have studio images up by the weekend, stay tuned!

Those Cool Dates

Thinking about a wedding date that's "cool" or has a special ring to it...or other special significance? Then, crank up the clock and book your date with your photographer even sooner than suggested in the "How Far In Advance.." post below. We're talking about those sequential or repetitive dates... 06/07/08.. (I even heard of someone getting married at specifically 3:45 on 6/7/08!) 08/08/08, and the next really huge wedding date over the horizon, 11/11/11. Even dates that are not numerically as significant but have something else special about them...like the first day of Summer--which this year is on a Saturday. Get your retainers into your venues and service providers -- especially your photographer! --REALLY early so the chances are better you'll get your first choice of your professionals and your services!

How Far In Advance Should We Book Our Photographer?

Good question! We hear this all the time, so I thought it would be a great subject for a blog post.

First, it is amazing how many calls we receive just a few months before the wedding from those seeking a professional wedding photographer who will make their memories come true forever with those special images. Except by an occassional fluke or last minute "the wedding is off!" cancellations, most popular dates are already taken. Especially of course, Saturdays.

There are literally NO advantages to waiting to book your photographer. In fact, the opposite is true.

I suggest booking 12-18 months minimum in advance. The benefits to you are many:

  1. You (most likely) get to choose which photographer you want. Chances of already being booked that far ahead are slight.
  2. You may (you will with me, anyhow) save money. When I book ahead into the next year, I do so at present year rates, likely saving hundreds of dollars of possible rate increases.
  3. How good will it feel to have another key planning element of the wedding "all taken care of"? REALLY GOOD!

I am now booking for 2009 dates (and beyond) as well as the remaining 2008 dates. All it takes to lock in your date is a $600 retainer (which of course is applied to the package cost).

I'd love to talk over your wedding plans, please call (207.233.4050) or email (russ@wed-pix.com) any time.
